Engaged Seniors Program
The Vancouver Bengali Club Charitable Society (VBCCS) is committed to supporting seniors and promoting their well-being, dignity, independence, and active participation in community life.
The Engaged Seniors Program is designed to support seniors who may experience social isolation, loneliness, frailty, reduced mobility, or other challenges associated with aging. The program aims to provide meaningful opportunities for seniors to remain connected, active, independent, and engaged within the community.
Helping seniors stay connected and active.
The program will provide and facilitate a range of programs, activities, and supportive services designed to improve or maintain the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of seniors. These may include:
Walking, mobility, and fitness programs
Wellness and healthy-aging education
Therapeutic and music-based activities
Social, cultural, and recreational activities
Peer support and opportunities for community connection
Transportation assistance
Opportunities for volunteering and community participation
Other supportive services that respond to the needs of seniors
Meaningful relationships and continued contribution
Through the Engaged Seniors Program, VBCCS seeks to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment where seniors can build meaningful relationships, participate in activities that promote healthy aging, maintain their independence, and continue to make valuable contributions to the community.
Guided by community experience.
The program will be guided by a Seniors’ Program Steering Committee and supported by a Seniors’ Program Coordinator. Together, they will help identify community needs, develop and coordinate programs and activities, and ensure that the initiative continues to effectively serve seniors in the community.
